No Pool chemical system is without
occasional problems. After about 25 years of practical field experience
with Biguanides (first as Baquacil dealer 1983 - 1997, then BioGuard®
Soft Swim®
1995 - current), we have a tremendous amount of information at our disposal to
help you. Let's first say that
as with any pool chemical maintenance program, it is always preferable to
prevent rather than treat problems that can occur. This includes proper
water balance - pH 7.4 - 7.6, total alkalinity 125 - 150 ppm, calcium hardness
about 200 ppm - and chemical maintenance - regular, correct additions of
BioGuard®
Soft Swim®
A, B or C. Along with regular filter cleaning, pool maintenance
(vacuuming, brushing & cleaning) and regular additions of BioGuard®
Optimizer Plus®
& BioGuard®
Soft Swim®
Assist, you can have a great non-chlorine, non-bromine experience year after
year after year. One of the
"problems" with biguanide systems is that the pool becomes so easy to maintain,
many pool owners miss or omit their maintenance routine. This is "done" by
neglecting to shock (number one omission), vacuum, brush the walls & clean the
filter. The thinking is, "the pool looks great, I don't have to anything
this week. I'll let it go." You're looking for trouble.
These are the main "problems" that pool owners
using biguanides have: 1.
Cloudy water
2. High
Consumption of "C" or hydrogen peroxide shock
3. Algae
4.
Pink Slime & White Water Mold
5.
Short filter runs or cycles |
