PristineBlue® pool care...
Pristine Blue, pristine blue, power, check, clean, clear, extra, test strips,Converting a biguanide (Baquacil, Soft Swim, Revacil, etc) pool to PristineBlue

For best results and economy, convert the pool to chlorine & operate as if on a chlorine regimen for about 2 weeks then proceed.  Shock with a calcium hypochlorite (cal hypo) based product. DO NOT continue the conversion process until the left over biguanide has been completely neutralized.

For best results, change the filter media.  Leftover Biguanide residue may be trapped in the media.

After converting to chlorine, use a granular chlorine such as Pristine Extra, until you’re ready to convert to Pristine Blue.

First Day

  • Start with a clean pool.

  • KNOW THE POOL’S VOLUME.  Almost all “problem” arise from the fact that pool owners don’t know the proper gallonage of their pool.  Click here for our pool dimensions chart.

  • Make sure the water is in balance.  Water balance in a Pristine Blue pool is a little different than in most pools.  Maintain these Pristine Blue levels for the best in product effectiveness and efficiency.  The levels you need to attain are:
    pH - 7.2 to 7.6
Total Alkalinity – 30 to 90 ppm (this is the most important difference)
    Calcium Hardness – 175 to 275 ppm
BioGuard Water Balancers such as Balance Pak 100, 200 & 300, Lo ‘n Slo, and Optimizer Plus are 100% compatible with Pristine Blue.

  • DO NOT CONTINUE UNTIL THE WATER IS BALANCED!

  • Add 2 oz. Pristine Check per 1,000 gallons of water and allow to circulate for at least 4 to 6 hours (preferably overnight).

  • Run the filter continuously.

Second Day

  • Backwash filter or clean the cartridge(s).

  • Top up the Pristine Blue level following the accompanying chart.

  • Add 2 oz. Pristine Blue per 1,000 gallons water as an initial dosage (prior Pristine Blue usage).

Important Note:  DO NOT ADD ANY PRISTINE BLUE FOR THE NEXT 2 (TWO) WEEKS.  MAINTAIN pH 7.2 TO 7.6.  After 2 weeks, check Pristine Blue level and top-up as needed.  DO NOT OVERDOSE.
